Conwy Castle

Location: Conwy Castle on the North Coast of Wales. As you will guess the moon was added from another capture.

This image was captured about an hour after sunset using a tripod-mounted Canon 5DmkII camera with a Canon EF 16~35mm F/2.8L II lens set at 19mm. I used Liveview and 10x magnification to manually focus on the anchor. The camera was set to manual exposure mode, f/8, ISO 100, and daylight white balance. I then captured a series of 10 exposures from 15 seconds all the way to 1/30th of a second in one-stop increments. The RAW processing, creating and saving the HDRI was all done in Photoshop CS/5. The HDRI was then opened and tone mapped in Photomatix Pro before the final clean-up, black and white conversion, toning and enhancement work was done back in Photoshop.

The moon was captured about 2am using a tripod-mounted Canon 7D camera with a Canon EF 400mm F/2.8L lens and a Canon 2X mk2 doubler. I used Liveview and 10x magnification to manually focus on the moon. The camera was set to manual exposure mode, f/8, ISO 100, and daylight white balance. I then captured the moon at 1/125th of a second. The RAW processing, black and white conversion and enhancement work was done in Photoshop.
