Needles Lighthouse @ sunset

Image Location : Sunset at the Needles Lighthouse, which is situated on the most westerly tip of the Isle of Wight.
The Needles Lighthouse which was built by Trinity House in 1859 on the outermost of the chalk rocks at the Needles near sea level. Designed by James Walker, it cost £20,000. Constructed from granite, it stands 33.25 metres (109.1 ft) high and is a circular tower with straight sides.
The light, 80 feet above high water mark can be seen 14 miles away at sea level, either white, red or green accordingly to the position of the observing ship. It is also equipped with a powerful foghorn which sounds every fifteen seconds during periods of poor visibility.

This image was captured sunset, using a Panasonic Lumix GX8 with a Lumix DG 100 - 400mm F/4.0 – 6.3 lens set to 300mm (equivalent to 600mm on a full frame camera). The camera was on a monopod and autofocused on the lighthouse, from the beach at Alum Bay. The camera was set to Aperture priority f/8 giving a 1/100th of a second exposure at ISO 200 with daylight white balance. The RAW processing and final adjustments were all done in Photoshop CC.
